Job summary

Sentrex Health Solutions Inc. in Canada is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support dispensary duties, prescription entry, shipping, and administrative tasks. You will work under the pharmacist and cross-train across the pharmacy, contributing to patient support and program operations.

Ideal candidates have a post-secondary diploma in Pharmacy Assistant/Technician, 1 year pharmacy experience, and strong English communication. Proficiency with Kroll and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma from Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency with Kroll required.
  • Strong computer skills in Windows environments and MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate processing of prescriptions for all programs/medications and insurance follow-up.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians by phone/email.
  • Adherence to SOPs and provincial regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medications.
  • Inventory management, ordering and reconciliation to support dispensing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with health care professionals, payers, and patients.
  • Coordinate delivery services so prescriptions arrive on time.

The Opportunity:

The PharmacyAssistant is primarily responsible fordispensary duties including prescription entry/processing, shipping of medications, answering telephone calls, accounts receivables and payments, maintaining inventory, assisting in compounding where permitted by scope of practice, and other administrative duties as required to support the pharmacy team.

The PharmacyAssistant is required to work independently under direction from the Pharmacist, as well as within a team. All roles at Sentrexwillbe cross trained as permitted by scope of practice, and youmaybe required to help out inotherareas ofthepharmacy when required.

A Day in the Life (What you will do here):

  • Accurate processing of prescriptions for all programs/medications, including following up on insurance billing issues with third-party payers/patient support programs.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to clinic staff, nurses, and physicians primarily by phone/email.
  • Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements as set out by the Provincial College of Pharmacists.
  • Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medications.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing review of pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Inventory management and reconciliation which includes ordering, maintaining, and organizing appropriate inventory and packaging supplies to support dispensing.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with health care professionals, reimbursement coordinators, private payers, and patients
  • Accurately arrange for delivery services/couriers so that prescriptions are received on-time by patients/clinics.
  • Call patients to schedule refills of medications.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by pharmacist and/or manager within the scope of practice of role.

What you need to ensure you are set up for success:

  • Post-secondary diploma from Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician program
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a pharmacy setting
  • Proficiency with Kroll required
  • Strong computer skills in Windows environments and MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Ability to communicate in other languages an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of specialty medications along with third party billing issues an asset
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage time, set daily priorities and multi-task to meet various competing work deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to physical stand for extended periods of time, and to lift and move up to 50 pounds
