Job summary

Springhill Community Pharmacy is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Assistant in Springhill, Nova Scotia. You will support pharmacists, greet customers, and assist with prescription entry, labeling and packaging under supervision.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends. You will help with inventory, clerical tasks, and daily pharmacy operations, contributing to patient care in a welcoming community setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Skilled in using Kroll and accurate prescription data entry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to thrive in a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Job description

Springhill Community Pharmacy is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Springhill, Nova Scotia.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities:

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy witha preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Skilled in using Kroll and highly accurate and efficient in prescription data entry is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Schedule:

• 10 to 20 hours per week (Part-time)
• The store is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Regular shifts will be scheduled within these hours, primarily during evenings and weekends.
• Some daytime availability is also required.
