Why this role is important

SUMMARY: To assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, assist in the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the Pharmacy as described by the Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, gather prescription information, and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist. Set realistic wait time expectations, locate and process prescriptions, and ensure customers needing counseling are referred to the pharmacist. Maintain the cash register and adhere to confidentiality requirements.

Administration

• Handle prescription orders according to SOPs, prepare and submit orders (excluding controlled drugs), manage third-party billing, answer calls, and manage incoming faxes. Assist in coordinating call-backs and filing documentation accurately.

Prescription Workflow

• Assist in prescription preparation, data entry, medication selection, counting, packaging, labeling, and maintaining pharmacy data systems.

Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma (Pharmacy Assistant credited course preferred)
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred
• Organizational skills, multitasking, problem-solving, and attention to detail

Hiring Range: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour, based on experience, knowledge, and region.
