Purpose:

The Pharmacist contributes to the overall function of the pharmacy by assisting with dispensing, counseling, and reviewing orders. They support pharmacy leadership by maintaining efficient workflow and training new staff.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Providing professional functions related to dispensing and pharmaceutical care.
  • Participating in dispensing, triage of new orders, computer entry, sterile compounding (where applicable), collation of data, patient counseling, and clinical reviews.
  • Problem solving and discussion of prescription-related issues with clinicians and Care Coordinators.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions dispensed and third-party billing.
  • Providing professional functions related to dispensing including pharmaceutical care, patient counseling, medication reviews, and documenting interventions and dialogue, liaising with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assisting the Pharmacy Manager in training staff.
  • Providing supervision and leadership in the pharmacy team to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Working evening and weekend hours.
  • Researching the compatibility and stability of infusion admixtures.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year Pharmacist experience.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, adhering to the Standards of Practice.
  • Must be trained and registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as “able to administer injections.”
  • Experience with Kroll is an asset.
  • Experience with sterile compounding is an asset (where applicable).
