Why this role is important?

SUMMARY:

Manage the operations of the Pharmacy while on duty, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in dispensary maintenance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Pharmacy and Customer Service:
   • Greet all customers approaching the Pharmacy
   • Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements
   • Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent
   • Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
   • Practice to full extent of scope with Professional Services, within your capability
   • Be identifiable to the public
   • Ensure accuracy of prescriptions dispensed
   • Communicate with healthcare professionals for customer care
   • Maintain records according to legislation and policy
2. Workflow and Inventory Management:
   • Control access respecting inventory and confidentiality
   • Review Workflow Queues daily
   • Manage stock, including expired inventory and medication orders
   • Ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances
3. Operations:
   • Maintain a professional appearance of work areas
   • Involve in financial reporting as needed
   • Respond to store communications
   • File incident reports for medication or privacy issues
4. Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
   • Independent decision-making skills
   • Ability to plan, coordinate, and delegate
   • Leadership and customer service commitment
   • Strong problem-solving skills
   • Proficiency with pharmacy systems and personal computing
   • Adherence to health and safety procedures
   • Completion of mandatory and continuing education
