Qualifications

  • Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist.
  • Entry-to-practice degree (Bachelor of Science or PharmD) in Pharmacy.
  • Preferred: hospital residency and/or PharmD program; Prescribing Authority at time of hire or within 1st year; injections; hospital pharmacy experience; precepting students; professional hospital pharmacy membership; participation in projects/committee work.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve medication-related issues and contribute to care plans.
  • Participate in patient rounds and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize therapy.
  • Review and verify medication orders; manage preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services.
  • Mentor staff, precept students, and support Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
  • Utilize computerized order entry and drug information systems; maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacist.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Entry-to-practice degree (Bachelor of Science or PharmD) in Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited hospital residency and/or Pharm D program. Additional Prescribing Authorization at time of hire or within the 1st year of employment, and to administer injections. Experience within a specific clinical area, precepting students, membership in a professional hospital pharmacy organization, and participation in projects, research or committee work is an asset. At least 1 year of recent experience in hospital pharmacy setting within the last 2 years.
