Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority in Eastern Zone is seeking a Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective drug therapy across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will supervise staff, oversee distribution systems, and provide clinical pharmacy services including drug regimen reviews and teaching.

The role requires NS licensure, a PharmD or BSc in Pharmacy, BLS, and strong communication. Residency and French language skills are assets. 75 hours biweekly; permanent full-time with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP (or similar standard) accredited university required.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy residency program preferred.
  • Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems and ensure safe drug therapy.
  • Supervise pharmacy support staff.
  • Provide drug regimen review, medication reconciliation and pharmacokinetic monitoring.
  • Deliver individual and group patient medication teaching and drug information.
  • Participate in rounds, discharge medication calendars, and counsel patients.
  • Make therapeutic recommendations to the medical team and support training of Pharmacy Students.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacist is responsible to ensure safe and effective drug therapy by participating in and overseeing drug distribution systems (inpatient and outpatient), supervising pharmacy support staff and identifying and resolving drug-related problems. The Pharmacist provides clinical pharmacy services including drug regimen review, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic monitoring, individual and group patient medication teaching, drug information and educational programs. Pharmacists work on selected medical services, participate in medical rounds, provide discharge medication calendars and counselling to patients and make therapeutic recommendations to the medical team. The Pharmacist may be required to participate in the orientation and training of Pharmacy Students and other hospital personnel.

Compensation And Benefits

$49.42 - $63.29 Hourly
