PharmaChoice Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to provide accurate dispensing, patient counselling, and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations. Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPNL).
  • Injections and vaccines Certification in Newfoundland.
  • Prior community pharmacy experience (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulatory standards, and best practices.
  • Attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective, and patient-centered dispensing of prescriptions.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and interactions.
  • Administer vaccines and other injections in accordance with Provincial regulations.
  • Support and expand clinical services, such as medication reviews, compliance packaging, and chronic disease management.
  • Act as a liaison with nearby clinics, healthcare providers and other community stakeholders to coordinate patient centric care.
  • Ensure full compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements including consent management.
  • Work cooperatively with the pharmacy team to maintain an efficient and positive team environment.
  • Promote health and wellness and participating in community activities such as clinics and educational events.
  • Contribute to problem solving discussions and recommend improvements to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in training activities by sharing knowledge, and advancing skill development as required
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

Job description

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for providing accurate medication dispensing, patient counselling, and ensuring compliance with all provincial and federal regulations. The successful candidate will utilize available patient information to assess medication history and provide appropriate clinical recommendations. The Pharmacist also ensures that prescriptions are filled promptly, meet all health and safety requirements, and support the needs of both the pharmacy team and the community it serves.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Clinical Services
  • Provide safe, effective, and patient-centered dispensing of prescriptions.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and interactions.
  • Administer vaccines and other injections in accordance with Provincial regulations.
  • Support and expand clinical services, such as medication reviews, compliance packaging, and chronic disease management.

Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with the College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPNL), Newfoundland Ministry of Health, Health Canada, and other applicable legislation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, prescription documentation, and inventory control in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Implement and monitor policies for safe storage, handling, and disposal of medications.
Collaboration and Team Support
  • Work cooperatively with the pharmacy team (including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants) to maintain an efficient and positive team environment.
  • Promote health and wellness and participating in community activities such as clinics and educational events, is any.
