About the job
Summary: To manage the operations of the Pharmacy while on duty, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in providing professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in the maintenance of the dispensary.
Responsibilities:
- Pharmacy and Customer Service
- Acknowledge all customers approaching the Pharmacy
- Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements
- Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management
- Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
- Practice to full extent of expanded scope with Professional Services, within your capability
- Be clearly identifiable to the public
- Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals within the circle of care
- Maintain all records required by legislation, standards, and policy
- Workflow and Inventory Management
- Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality
- Review and maintain Workflow Queues daily
- Review ‘will call’ bins regularly as per SOPs
- Review stock for expired inventory
- Oversee stock levels and medication orders
- Ensure documentation and control of substances meet legal requirements and report to authorities
- Operations
- Maintain a professional appearance in all pharmacy areas
- Participate in financial reporting as needed
- Respond to store communications
- File incident reports for medication or privacy issues
- Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to think independently and make decisions
- Ability to plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach colleagues
- Proven ability to drive and build the business, lead by example, support programs
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to execute action plans
- Knowledge of Pharmacy systems and personal computing skills is an asset
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures
- Complete mandatory and voluntary training as needed
