Are you passionate about fitness, kinesiology, and helping others succeed? MaKami College is looking for a Learning Assistant to support students in our Personal Training Program. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to help shape the next generation of fitness professionals while using their academic knowledge and interpersonal skills in a dynamic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop personalized tutoring plans with students
• Track student progress and collaborate with the Student Success Centre team
• Assist with academic support duties such as proctoring exams or creating tutoring resource
• Complete basic administrative tasks such as data entry, student tracking, attendance logs, and resource organization
• Assist instructors with course preparation and documentation
• Support instructors in classroom and gym setup (e.g., fitness equipment, materials)
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized learning environment
• Assist students during class to reinforce fitness concepts and practical techniques
• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and program design
• Grade assignments and tests under instructor direction
• Enforce student conduct policies and take attendance when required
• Copy, organize, and distribute instructional materials

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or a related field is preferred
• Enrolled in or completed a recognized personal training certification is an asset
• Teaching or facilitation experience in post-secondary or adult education is an asset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is considered a strong asset
• Strong understanding of fitness principles, human anatomy, and exercise science
• Excellent communication skills and a supportive, student-focused approach
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
• Professional, respectful, and able to build strong relationships with both students and staff
