Job summary

The Township of St. Joseph is accepting applications for casual Personal Support Worker (PSW) positions to provide in-home services for eligible adults, helping them live safely at home. Competitive hourly pay and mileage reimbursement are offered, with OMERS pension and group benefits for full-time roles.

Flexible hours include evenings and weekends. Ideal candidates have a PSW certificate, a valid driver’s license, CPR/First Aid and Food Safety or willingness to obtain, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• PSW Certificate (Ontario-accredited or equivalent) is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
• CPR/First Aid and Food Safety certification preferred or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers)
• Support medication routines within PSW scope
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding as needed
• Provide light housekeeping related to patient care
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow safety, infection control, and privacy policies
• Communicate respectfully with patients, families, and care team members.

Job Description

The Rural Community Care and PSW Outreach Program with the Township of St. Joseph is currently accepting applications for casual Personal Support Worker (PSW) positions.

This position requires enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate individuals to provide a range of in-home services for eligible adults to support them in remaining safely and independently in their own homes and help reduce visits to the emergency department. The program is expanding its patient capacity and extending its catchment area to provide services between Echo Bay and Gordon Lake Road (Desbarats).

Salary Range: $23.23-$27.35 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement for travel between patient homes. Participation in OMERS Pension Plan. Group Benefit Plan available for full-time positions.
