Job summary

Providence Manor, a Providence Care facility in Kingston, seeks a Personal Support Worker to monitor resident wellbeing and assist with daily living tasks. You will follow the care plan, report changes to nursing staff, and support high-quality, person-centered care in a 243-bed setting.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from Charge RN, RN or RPN regarding priority-setting and care delivery.
• Familiarize self with residents' care plans to provide care.
• Interact with residents with difficult behaviors using a consistent approach.
• Provide direct-care for residents as outlined in the care plan, including activities of daily living, mobility, and hygiene.
• Provide, remove and clean bedpan or urinal as requested.
• Assist residents to and from bathroom and monitor as required.

Providence Manor is a 243-bed long-term care home located in downtown Kingston. The home provides care for residents who have stable medical conditions, but require 24-hour nursing care.

The Personal Support Worker (PSW), under the direction of the Assistant Director of Care, Charge RN, RN or RPN, is the primary front-line monitor of resident well- being and reports any changes in resident status or concerns to the registered nursing staff. The PSW assists in the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care on assigned Resident Home Areas. Duties are discharged in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Providence Care Centre, the Resident’s Bill of Rights, and the requirements of-the Fixing Long Term Care Act and Regulations. The PSW delivers basic nursing and hygiene care for residents and assists them with activities of daily living, based on assessed needs and care-plan requirements

Position Responsibilities:

• Provides direct-care for residents as outlined in the written care plan or as requested by the resident. Direct care encompasses but is not limited to: assistance with activities of daily living; exercise, positioning and ambulation; bowel and bladder care; collection of specimens; any other care required to ensure resident safety and comfort
• Provides, removes and cleans bedpan and or urinal at regular intervals and upon resident’s request.
• Assists resident to and from bathroom and monitors as required.
