Responsibilities

1. Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
2. Assist registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
3. Complete all documentation timely, accurately, and in accordance with corporate policies.
4. Ensure holistic, quality resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Resident Bill of Rights.
5. Support resident meal services and restorative nursing activities.
6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
7. Execute care following legislation, best practices, policies, and procedures.
8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
9. Maintain timely, accurate documentation for all care provided.
10. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
11. Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
12. Foster teamwork among shifts, staff, and within the collective agreement.
13. Follow health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; second language is an asset.
• Must meet one of the following:
• Completion of a Ministry-approved PSW Training Program (min. 640 hours) from a recognized institution, OR
• RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
• Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
• Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
• Meet health surveillance requirements under the Public Hospitals Act.
• VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
