Personal Support Worker (PSW) - Pickering

Responsibilities

1. Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living following corporate policies, standards, and nursing practices.
2. Assist registered staff with diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
3. Complete documentation accurately and timely.
4. Ensure holistic, quality resident care aligned with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
5. Support resident meal services and restorative nursing.
6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
7. Adhere to legislation, best practices, policies, and procedures.
8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs.
9. Maintain accurate documentation for all care provided.
10. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
11. Attend departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
12. Promote teamwork and adherence to safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, lockout procedures, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in English; second language is an asset.
• Completion of a Ministry-approved PSW training program (minimum 640 hours) or current students in healthcare programs (Year 1).
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
• Negative T.B. test or chest x-ray, current CPR and First Aid certificates.
• Meet health surveillance requirements and pass a criminal record check within the past year.
