Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is current and accurate.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
- Support restorative nursing efforts.
- Coordinate activities necessary for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Execute care in accordance with legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
- Participate in agency risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation for all care provided, complying with legislation and regulations.
- Engage in mentoring new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary, and resident safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork and understanding among staff and adhere to the collective agreement.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including:
- Practicing proper body mechanics.
- Using equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
- Following safety procedures for lockouts.
- Wearing PPE when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication; bilingual skills are an asset.
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a recognized college or school.
- RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy students who have completed Year 1.
Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
Valid Criminal Record Check with no criminal history.
