Job description

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.

1. Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
2. Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is current and accurate.
3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
4. Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
5. Support restorative nursing efforts.
6. Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
7. Execute care following legislation, best practices, and policies.
8. Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
9. Maintain timely, accurate documentation for all care provided.
10. Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
11. Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
12. Promote teamwork among shifts and staff, respecting the collective agreement.
13. Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; additional languages considered an asset.
• Meet one of the following criteria:
• Complete a Ministry-approved PSW training program (min. 640 hours) from an accredited institution, or
• Be a student in RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy programs with Year 1 completed.
• Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray.
• Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
• Meet health surveillance requirements under the Public Hospitals Act.
• VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
