Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards, and recognized nursing practice.
- Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Complete all documentation on time, in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is current and accurate.
- Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
- Support restorative nursing efforts.
- Coordinate activities for effective resident care during shifts and across the unit.
- Execute care following legislation, best practices, and policies.
- Participate in risk management and quality improvement programs related to resident care.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation for all care provided.
- Mentor new staff/students and promote educational opportunities.
- Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary, and safety meetings.
- Promote teamwork among shifts and staff, respecting the collective agreement.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures, including proper body mechanics, equipment use, safety protocols, and PPE usage.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficient in verbal and written English; additional languages considered an asset.
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Complete a Ministry-approved PSW training program (min. 640 hours) from an accredited institution, or
- Be a student in RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, or Physiotherapy programs with Year 1 completed.
- Experience as a Facility PSW is an asset.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray.
- Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Meet health surveillance requirements under the Public Hospitals Act.
- VSS clearance within the past year confirming no criminal record.
