Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Criminal Record Check.
  • Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificate required.

Job description

***LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY***

Provide skilled care for all activities of daily living in accordance with corporate policy, established standards and recognized nursing practice.

  1. Assist the registered staff in nursing diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
  2. Complete all documentation on time, and in accordance with corporate policies, ensuring that it is both current and accurate.
  3. Ensure a holistic, quality approach to resident care consistent with RhynoCare’s Mission, Vision, Values and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  4. Provide assistance and support with resident meal service.
  5. Provide assistance and support with restorative nursing.
  6. Strategize, cooperate and conduct all activities necessary for the effective completion of resident care during his/her shift(s) and throughout the unit.
  7. Execute care in accordance with current legislation, best practices, corporate policies, and procedures.
  8. Participate in agency risk management program related to resident care.
  9. Participate in quality improvement program related to resident care.
  10. Perform timely, accurate and complete documentation for all care delivered on the assigned shift in accordance with legislation, regulations and internal requirements.
  11. Participate in new staff/student mentoring as assigned and promote educational opportunities to enhance their education.
  12. Participate in departmental, interdisciplinary team and resident safety meetings.
  13. Promote good understanding and teamwork between shifts, registered and unregulated staff and the collective agreement.
  14. Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including:
    1. Practice proper body mechanics in daily routines, particularly when using computer equipment.
    2. Use all equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
    3. Follow established safety procedures for lock outs.
    4. Wear proper safety equipment and PPE when necessary.

Qualifications

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
  3. Ability to speak a second language is considered an asset.
  4. Must meet one of the following criteria:
    1. Successful completion of a Ministry of Education approved PSW Training Program (minimum 640 hours) from a Community College or a school approved by the National Association of Career Colleges OR
    2. RN, RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy students with successful completion of Year 1.
  5. Experience working as a Facility PSW is considered an asset.
  6. Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray.
  7. Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificate.
  8. Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act.
  9. Valid Criminal Record Check confirming absence of a criminal history/record.
