Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide compassionate personal care, supporting residents with daily activities and hygiene in a respectful, safety-focused environment. The role emphasizes resident-centred care with attention to physical, social, and emotional needs, following government standards and Yee Hong's mission.

CPR certification and Ontario PSW training are required, with opportunities for professional development and inclusive workplace

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent.
  • Experience in long term care is an asset.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
  • Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
  • Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office)
  • Basic knowledge of Workday an asset
  • Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

  • Participate in scheduling and teamwork to ensure smooth operations.

Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
  • Experience in long term care setting an asset
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
  • Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
  • Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset
  • Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office)
  • Basic knowledge of Workday an asset
  • Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset
Additional Information

Working Conditions: Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.

Ability to work permanent day shifts, including weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices

Salary Range: $25.41 - $27.62
