Job summary

The Village of Tansley Woods – Retirement Home in Burlington, ON is seeking a Personal Support Worker – nursing care on a permanent full-time basis, with immediate start. Shifts include Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, On-call and Flexible hours.

The role entails assisting with bed pans, vital signs, meals, bathing, mobility, housekeeping and companionship, with 30–40 hours per week and a wage of $22.90–$24.57 per hour.

Qualifications

• College/CEGEP or 1–2 year program or equivalent experience.
• BCLS, First Aid, CPR and PSW/HA certificates required.
• Experience is an asset, supportive teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bed pans and patient care tasks as required.
• Take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse).
• Serve meals, feed patients, and assist with nutrition.
• Weigh, lift, turn and position patients.
• Make beds and maintain patient rooms.
• Bathing, dressing and grooming of patients.
• Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher.
• Collect specimens and provide first aid in emergencies.
• Provide personal care, companionship and light housekeeping.
• Launder clothing and linens and assist with daily living activities.

• The candidate will be responsible for supplying and emptying bed pans.
• The candidate must take patients’ blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
• A candidate with experience is an asset.
• The candidate must have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate,CPR Certificate,Nursing Aide Certificate,Health Care Aide Certificate, and Personal Support Worker Certificate.

Work setting

• The candidate should work in a nursing home/home for the aged or people who don’t need to be in a hospital but can’t be cared for at home.

Security and safety

• The candidate must undergo a criminal record check, a vulnerable sector check, and a tuberculosis test.
• The candidate must have proof of immunization.
• The candidate must provide valid reference information.
