Job summary

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is seeking a Personal Support Worker to join our Medical team on a temporary part-time basis. You will provide compassionate support with activities of daily living and help create positive experiences for patients during 8-hour shifts across days, evenings and weekends.

You will perform daily living tasks, assist with transfers, medications reminders, and document care in Meditech, while adhering to RHPA standards.

Qualifications

• PSW certification or partial completion of post-secondary nursing education.
• Previous experience in a high-paced, rapidly changing atmosphere.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist patient(s) with activities of daily living including feeding, lifts/transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
• Assist with medications and reminders in accordance with policy.
• Observe and report unsafe conditions and changes to supervisor; document progress notes in Meditech.
• Restock areas and assist with patient transfers within the hospital.

Asthe successful applicant, you will do the following:

• Assist patient(s)with activities of daily living such as feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing,skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting
• Performdelegated tasks which have been delegated by an RHP in compliance with the RHPAfor which transfer of functional training has been completed, such as insertionof a digit or instrument into a body cavity, care or procedure under the dermisand any task or skill needing a physician’s prescription
• Assist withmedication and medication reminders in accordance with establishedemployer or government policy
• Observe person(s)and their environments, and must report and document unsafe conditions andbehavioral, physical, and / or cognitive changes to an appropriatesupervisor
• Communicateand demonstrate basic information to person(s) in relation toactivities of daily living, meal planning and preparation, inaccordance with pre-established Plan of Care
• Complete andmaintainrelatedrecords and documentation such as communication in Meditech in related progressnotes or interventions
• Restockvarious areas such as patient rooms, PPE supplies & procedure carts
• Assistwith patient transfer to other areas within the hospital
