Job summary

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is seeking a Personal Support Worker for a temporary part-time position (approximately 6 months) in the Medical unit. You will work 8-hour shifts across days, evenings, and weekends, reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Units & Allied Health.

Compensation ranges from $31.886 to $32.521 per hour plus shift premiums, with valuable benefits and education funding opportunities.

Qualifications

• PSW certification and/or partial completion of post-secondary nursing education.
• Previous experience in a high-paced, rapidly changing atmosphere.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including feeding, lifts/transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
• Perform delegated tasks as assigned by a RHPA-registered professional with appropriate training.
• Assist with medication and reminders in line with policy.
• Observe patient conditions and report unsafe or changed conditions to the supervisor.
• Communicate basic information to patients regarding activities of daily living and meal planning.
• Complete and maintain related records in Meditech and progress notes.
• Restock patient rooms, PPE, and carts.
• Assist with patient transfers within the hospital.

As The Successful Applicant, You Will Do The Following

• Assist patient(s) with activities of daily living such as feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting
• Perform delegated tasks which have been delegated by an RHP in compliance with the RHPA for which transfer of functional training has been completed, such as insertion of a digit or instrument into a body cavity, care or procedure under the dermis and any task or skill needing a physician’s prescription
• Assist with medication and medication reminders in accordance with established employer or government policy
• Observe person(s) and their environments, and must report and document unsafe conditions and behavioral, physical, and / or cognitive changes to an appropriate supervisor
• Communicate and demonstrate basic information to person(s) in relation to activities of daily living, meal planning and preparation, in accordance with pre-established Plan of Care
• Complete andmaintainrelated records and documentation such as communication in Meditech in related progress notes or interventions
• Restock various areas such as patient rooms, PPE supplies & procedure carts
• Assist with patient transfer to other areas within the hospital

What You’ll Bring
