Qualifications and Requirements

• Personal Support Worker Certificate or valid certification as a Home Support Worker, Level II or III, Health Care Aide, or personal attendant
• Students enrolled in health care programs or with relevant certifications (e.g., RN, RPN, Practical Nurse, Midwife, internationally-trained physicians)
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification
• Recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Proof of negative TB test within last 12 months and up-to-date immunizations
• Ability to travel within the community; valid driver’s license and own vehicle required
• Ability to work every other weekend
• Strong English communication skills; multilingual skills are an asset
• Reliability, organization skills, and ability to lift up to 35 lbs (16 kg)
• Comfortable traveling around Durham Region

Role Responsibilities

As a caring health care team member, support clients to be safe and independent at home, providing personal care, assisting with mobility and light exercises, and observing/reporting changes in their condition. May include light housekeeping tasks as per care plans.
