Job description

Employment Type: 6-month contract (from May 12, 2025, to November 16, 2025), PSW, Bargaining Unit (1 Vacancy)

Work Hours: Thursday to Saturday, with an alternative Wednesday, 8 am to 8 pm (31.5 hours and 42 hours in alternate weeks, excluding a 1.5-hour unpaid meal break)

Work Setting: Onsite at 53 Pape Avenue, Toronto, Ontario
$23.21/hour

Program Overview: Assisted Living Services and Home and Cluster Care
The incumbent provides support services to clients in their homes or in assisted living or cluster sites, under supervision. Responsibilities are both generic and program-specific, scheduled hourly or in shifts.

What You Will Do

1. Work based on program needs, client preferences, and your skill set.
2. Deliver client-focused, professional, and culturally sensitive services.
3. Follow all agency, unit, and program policies and procedures, including during orientation and training.
4. Provide services within the scope of your PSW training and certifications.
5. Adhere to health and safety policies.
6. Perform physical tasks such as lifting (10-25 kg), walking, bending, and operating equipment.
7. Report injuries promptly and participate in return-to-work programs if needed.
8. Confirm work schedules, report absences, and respond to all communications.
9. Use the Alayacare Mobile App to clock in/out.
10. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
11. Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other service providers.
12. Follow routines and client service plans.
13. Ensure timely reporting and documentation of services and incidents.
14. Manage supplies and equipment, report maintenance issues.
15. Support client activities to promote their physical and mental well-being.

Qualifications

• Personal Support Worker Certificate and NACC Certificate (if applicable).
• At least one year of experience in personal care for seniors or disabled adults.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• Understanding of ADLs and IADLs support.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and judgment skills.
• Knowledge of behavioral management, gerontology, and healthcare systems.
• Food safety knowledge and physical capability for lifting and mobility tasks.
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
• Comfort with technology for documentation and service delivery.
• Flexibility to work across different locations.
• Professionalism, confidentiality, and respect in all interactions.
• Chinese speaking PSW preferred.
