Our long-term care team is currently accepting applications for the Personal Care Worker (PCW) position to join our Halifax team.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the RN Clinical Leader, the PCW provides services to residents according to individual care plans developed in collaboration with the RN Clinical Leader and interdisciplinary team members. Key tasks include:

• Performing light housekeeping duties (e.g., tidying rooms, cleaning closets, hanging clothing)
• Providing personal care (e.g., bathing, dressing, grooming)
• Assisting residents with meals and snacks
• Engaging residents and families in leisure and recreational activities
• Facilitating participation in recreation programs
• Creating opportunities for interaction within residents' environments
• Practicing safe client handling and transfers, including the use of assistive devices
• Performing other related duties as required

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved PCW/CNA program with NS provincial certification, or currently enrolled in LPN or RN programs, or holding applicable courses such as Health Care Aides
• Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) registered with the NNAS or CNO, actively pursuing LPN/RN license or CCA Certification; Northwood provides support for these processes
• Registered with the PLAR program with NSHA
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Previous related experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and clinical skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Consistent attendance
