Job summary

ComForCare Home Health Care - Halton in Burlington, Canada seeks a Personal Care Assistant to support clients in their own homes under an established plan of care. This role focuses on enabling clients to stay in their residence with dignity and independence.

You will provide essential personal care, homemaking support, meal preparation, and safe medication assistance, while offering companionship and ensuring safety in daily activities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent certificate.
• Meets passing criteria on PCA skills test.
• Meets passing criteria on DEARS test (Drugs and Ethics test).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
• Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back care, foot care, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, ROM exercises and safe use of equipment.
• Provide companionship and respite services; perform homemaking tasks (vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, dishes, laundry, cleaning bathrooms).
• Assist with medications that the client self-administers.
• Follow the established plan of care to support clients in remaining in their residence.

Job Summary:

The Personal Care Assistant provides clients various personal care and homemaker/companion services in accordance with an established plan of care so that they can remain in their residence.

Essential Functions:

• Personal Care
  
  
  
  • Provide assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail /skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercise, safe use of equipment and assistive devices (wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane, lifts), change of position, with toileting, commode, incontinent care, meal planning, preparation, and assistance with feeding
  
  
  
  


• Companion/Sitter
  
  
  
  • Provide companionship and respite services for family
  
  
  • Perform homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms
