Job summary

ComForCare Home Health Care - Halton is seeking a Personal Care Assistant in Oakville, Ontario. The role provides clients with personal care and homemaker/companion services according to an established plan of care so they can remain in their residence.

The position includes duties such as bathing, dressing, grooming, meal planning and preparation, along with companionship, homemaking tasks, and assistance with medications that clients self-administer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Meets passing criteria on PCA skills test.
• Meets passing criteria on DEARS test (Drugs and Ethics test).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and access to insured transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and basic hygiene.
• Offer companionship and respite services and assist with homemaker tasks.
• Assist with medications that the client self-administers.

Job Summary:

Essential Functions:

• Personal Care
  
  
  
  • Provide assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail /skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercise, safe use of equipment and assistive devices (wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane, lifts), change of position, with toileting, commode, incontinent care, meal planning, preparation, and assistance with feeding
  
  
  
  


• Companion/Sitter
  
  
  
  • Provide companionship and respite services for family
  
  
  • Perform homemaking activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms

  • Assist with medications that the client self-administers
  
  
  
  

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent certificate


• Meets passing criteria on PCA skills test.

• Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job
