Job summary

South East Cornerstone Public School Division is seeking an enthusiastic Education Assistant for the Carnduff Education Complex in Carnduff, SK. The role focuses on supporting students with diverse needs and implementing life skills and academic programming under teacher direction.

Responsibilities include adhering to safety plans, assisting with transitions to collaborate with peers and staff, and potentially transporting students and addressing medical or personal care needs as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software.
• An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets.
• Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division.

• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of the teacher.
• Focus on transitioning the student to work with other students and adults.
• Contribute to behaviour and safety plans created for students.
• Supervise intensive needs students as well as small groups as required.
• Transport students if required and assist with personal hygiene as needed.
• Attend to medical needs as required.

Equivalent to 3 hours per day student days

Duties

In addition to those duties outlined in the , duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs. The successful applicant may be required to perform the following:

• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without a lift and up to 120 pounds with 2 man lift or mechanical lift
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport)
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher
• Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults
• Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required
• Supervision of intensive needs student(s) as well as small groups of students as required

Salary & Benefits

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated CUPE Collective Agreement as listed on our website. The starting wage for this position is currently $20.12/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
