FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES

Reporting to the Program Chair, or designate, an instructor carries out activities in areas such as course preparation, delivery, supporting student success, curriculum work, professionalism, professional development, and college service.

Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering a positive learning environment, and contributing to student academic success and team collaboration. They are expected to demonstrate NorQuest’s Qs in their daily work.

Teaching may occur during the day, evening, or weekends, in-person, online, or Hy-flex. Instructors may need to provide lab, theory, and clinical coverage to meet operational needs, including travel for clinical/practicum instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare courses by updating outlines, LMS shells, and materials to meet learning objectives.
  • Develop and deliver content for theory, lab, and clinical instruction.
  • Supervise and assess students' skills in various settings.
  • Adapt teaching methods based on student needs and feedback.
  • Ensure students acquire necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for safe practice.
  • Mentor and supervise students during practical experiences, providing feedback.
  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Participate in curriculum development, course reviews, and adhere to policies and safety standards.
  • Maintain professional certifications and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in college and community service activities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant health field (e.g., nursing) or equivalent education.
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time experience in the program-specific field.
  • Experience applying equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teaching skills, especially with adult and international learners.
  • Previous teaching experience is an asset.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience, within the faculty pay range outlined in the Faculty Association agreement.
