Job summary

Pangman School in Pangman, SK is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with diverse needs on a temporary basis. The role involves assisting with life skills and academic programming under the direction of a teacher.

Qualifications include a Grade 12 diploma, an EA or equivalent diploma, flexibility, teamwork, a valid driver's license, and knowledge of school software. Additional training in NVCI, First Aid, autism and behavioral education assets are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software.
• An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets.
• Commitment to the ideals of public education and the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division.

Responsibilities

• Support students with diverse needs and high behavioral needs.
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required).
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required.
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher.
• Focus on transitioning students to be able to work with others.
• Focus on behaviour and safety plans created for students.
• Supervision of intensive need students and small groups as required.

Hours of Work:

Equivalent to 6 hours per day student days

Duties:

In addition to those duties outlined in the job description, duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs. The successful applicant may be required to perform the following:

• Lifting - Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without a lift and up to 120 pounds with a 2 man lift or mechanical lift
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport)
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher
• Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults
• Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required
• Supervision of intensive need student(s) as well as small groups of students as required

Salary & Benefits:

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca. The starting wage for this position is currently $22.53/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
