Job summary

The City of Penticton is seeking a permanent full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II in Penticton, BC. You will perform skilled operational and maintenance duties to ensure effluent quality meets all regulatory criteria.

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, you’ll make operational decisions and support plant equipment and lift stations. Key responsibilities include monitoring systems, calibration, data logging, and collaboration with maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing water treatment equipment.
• Knowledge of basic electrical control systems and telemetry.
• Ability to use process control and data acquisition software.
• Laboratory testing to optimize water quality and plant performance.

Responsibilities

• Support operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and lift stations.
• Monitor SCADA, gauges, meters, and control panels; adjust processes.
• Inspect plant and equipment; troubleshoot and take corrective action.
• Calibrate instruments and analyzers for treatment processes.
• Compile data, prepare electronic reports, and maintain logs.
• Perform sampling and lab tests; adjust operations per results.
• Assist maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
• Provide operational support during absences.
