Health Match BC invites two full-time Pediatricians to Port Alberni's West Coast General Hospital to care for local pediatric patients and residents of nearby First Nations communities. The 75-bed community hospital offers 24‑hour emergency services and serves a regional population.

Compensation is fee-for-service under MOCAP with RSA incentives: retention premium, relocation funding up to $15,000, recruitment incentive up to $10,000, and annual rural CME allowances.

Role and Facility Information

We invite you to join a collegial group of two full-time Pediatricians in Port Alberni providing care for local pediatric patients and to residents of First Nations communities in Ucluelet, Nitinat, Ahousaht and Opitsaht.

The West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni is a modern, well equipped 75 bed community hospital with 52 acute (3 ICU) and 32 multilevel beds and 24-hour emergency room services. Port Alberni has an average 300 births per year, and the hospital provides a wide array of services to a regional population of 32,000.

Our congenial medical community enjoys a full complement of Family Physicians along with specialist colleagues in anesthesiology, general surgery, obstetrics/ gynecology, urology, internal medicine, psychiatry and radiology.

Port Alberni – located on the unceded and traditional territories of the the Hupačasath and Tseshaht First Nations is Vancouver Island’s central community carved by glaciers, sheltered by mountains and surrounded by a beautiful ecosystem. Benefits and Incentives

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Retention Premium 7.98%
• Retention Flat Fee $12,367
• Relocation Funding Available $up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Recruitment Incentive $up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Other Benefits/Incentives Annual Rural CME - $3000 in years 3&4 year, to a maximum of $6000 after 4 years
