Responsibilities

• Act as MRP care for unattached & unassigned inpatients at WCGH, including rounding on inpatients to the service, arranging service transfers and inter-facility repatriations, discharge planning and responding to urgent calls for admitted patients under this service.
• Participate in daily structured team report, supporting allied teams in the hospital and in the community, including in-person or virtual handovers at discharge to patients' primary community practitioners.
• Provide on-site MRP services daily between 0700-2200, 52 weeks of the year, including statutory holidays; afternoon/evening coverage focuses on new unassigned and unattached admissions.
• May be eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including recruitment incentive and relocation costs, fee premium, and CME allowances.

Job description

The West Coast General Hospital (WCGH) is seeking physicians to join Hospitalists team. Full-time or part time positions are available.

The West Coast General Hospital fosters a collaborative team based environment with a focus on maximizing patient safety, championing culturally safe patient care and practicing trauma informed care.

In this role Hospitalists will act as MRP care for unattached & unassigned inpatients at WCGH. This includes rounding on inpatients to the service, arranging service transfers and inter-facility repatriations, discharge planning and responding to urgent calls for admitted patients under this service.
To ensure adequate flow of admissions and discharges, attendance and participation at the daily structured team report, supporting the allied teams in the hospital and in community is required, as well in- person (virtual or telephone) patient hand over at discharge, to patients primary community practitioners.

Participating physicians collectively provide on-site MRP services every day between the hours of 0700-2200, 52 weeks of the year, including statutory holidays. The scheduled afternoon/evening physician will provide the above physician coverage, with a focus on new unassigned and unattached patient admissions through the ED, completion of patient rounding and end of day patient stabilization, and responding to urgent, non-code calls for patients admitted to the site.Weekdays, between 1700-2200, the physician covers all inpatients with FPs as MRP. This does not apply to patients with specialists as MRP.

CHIP team members will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages, with a wide variety of illnesses, diseases, injuries, and functional disorders, providing both direct and indirect patient care.

Dependent on successful completion of relevant training and/or privileging criteria, there may also be opportunities to provide:

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Fee Premium: 7.98%
• Annual Flat Fee: $12,366.72
• Rural CME: starting at $2,200.00/annum in year 3 & 4to a maximum of $4,400.00/annum after 4 years
