Job summary

Red Deer County is seeking a Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO1) for a permanent full-time role in Protective Services. You will protect people, places, roads, and rural character while delivering education, enforcement, prevention, and partnerships.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of related experience, a CPO1 certification, PARE, strong communication skills, and a valid Alberta Class 5 license. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies this opportunity.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of related law-enforcement experience.
• Community Peace Officer Level 1 certification.
• Completion of the PARE or equivalent physical testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism, integrity, initiative, and good judgement.
• Excellent organizational, diplomatic, customer-service, and relationship skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.

• A minimum of three (3) years of related law-enforcement experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Community Peace Officer Level 1 certification.
• Completion of the PARE or equivalent physical abilities testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven professionalism, integrity, initiative, and sound judgement.
• Excellent organizational, diplomatic, customer-service, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• An acceptable Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• A valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.

The following qualification are considered assets:

• Emergency Vehicle Operation (EVO) certification.
• Motor Transport Weights & Measures training.
• Experience in municipal government or municipal enforcement.

The starting salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s directly related qualifications and experience, internal equity, and Red Deer County’s approved compensation policies.
