Job summary

Blackline Safety is seeking a qualified electronics technician for PCBA inspection, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across manufacturing lines. You will evaluate defects, implement corrective actions, and work with cross-functional teams to address yield issues.

The role requires soldering proficiency, IPC/JIS knowledge, and strong English communication. Experience with RF/Gas detection is a plus, and a Lean/Six Sigma background is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an electronics manufacturing or repair environment.
  • Excellent soldering skills, IPC/JIS standards familiarity.
  • Excellent electronics troubleshooting skills across analog and digital circuits.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Moderate experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with RF testing, gas detection is a plus; Lean/Six Sigma is a plus.

  • Complete additional tasks as directed.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Make decisions about PCBA product quality based on IPC standards
  • Analyze defective PCBAs, troubleshoot, repair, and provide feedback to SMT or assembly lines to aid in creating corrective actions
  • Track and report on modes of failure and suggest improvements to prevent future failures
  • Engage with Process, Design, and SMT Engineering to support process improvements and address root cause of yield issues
  • Work in an environment structured for continuous improvement and cycle time reductions
  • Read and accurately interpret work instructions, procedures, assembly drawings, schematics, and bills of materials
  • Complete additional tasks as directed
About You
  • Certificate or Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an electronics manufacturing or repair environment
  • Excellent soldering skills, being well-versed in industry electronics acceptability requirements (IPC, JIS, etc.) and comfortable working with modern SMT package sizes
  • Excellent electronics troubleshooting skills, with analog and digital circuits
  • Strong ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing
  • Moderate experience in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with RF test, for cellular, GPS, and other bands is an asset, as is experience with gas detection
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment or Six Sigma certification is an asset
  • Highly motivated, independent, attentive to details, and have a disciplined approach to problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and can work effectively in a rapidly growing and changing organization
  • Open-minded and passionate about problem-solving and understanding that repairing product is only part of the journey of continuous improvement
  • Team player with a positive attitude who can engage effectively with a wide background of cultures and with different levels within the organization
  • Enjoy a fast pace and enjoy having multiple priorities
Safety Shoe Requirement

This position requires the use of CSA Grade 1 toe protection safety footwear. Applicants must have access to a pair of safety footwear that meets this requirement prior to starting employment.
