Job summary

Sandvik Group is hiring a Payroll Specialist to oversee payroll for our multi-provincial workforce, including Quebec. You will manage full-cycle payroll, year-end reconciliations, government filings, and Dayforce administration to improve efficiency.

The role requires 2–3 years of payroll experience, PCP certification, and strong Dayforce (HCM) skills. Bilingual English/French is an asset in a collaborative, fast-paced environment in Canada.

Qualifications

  • PCP certification or equivalent payroll credential.
  • 2–3 years of payroll experience, multi-provincial incl. Quebec.
  • Strong Dayforce HCM knowledge: processing, config and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Dayforce Time & Attendance and integrations (e.g., Workday).
  • Advanced Excel skills: VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
  • Fluent English; French considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Administer full-cycle payroll for multi-provincial workforce including Québec.
  • Handle year-end reconciliations and government filings (T4s, RL-1s).
  • Maintain and validate time and attendance data for accuracy.
  • Administer Dayforce system, data integrity, and negotiate enhancements with support teams.
  • Support audits, regulatory compliance, and WCB reporting.
  • Identify process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.

Currently, we have an opening for a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will oversee payroll processing and system administration for our multi-provincial workforce, including Quebec. This role ensures accurate payroll execution, compliance with regulations, and optimization of the Dayforce system to enhance efficiency.

What you will be doing
  • Administer full-cycle payroll, including year-end reconciliations, government filings (T4s, RL-1s), in compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Process payroll transactions such as new hires, salary changes, terminations, pension contributions, and various employee entitlements (vacation, sick leave, STD, and parental leave top-ups).
  • Maintain and validate time and attendance data, ensuring accuracy in hours, overtime, and leave balances.
  • Oversee payroll adjustments, reconciliations, and reporting for various business units.
  • Serve as a system administrator for Dayforce, troubleshooting issues, maintaining employee data, and collaborating with support teams for enhancements.
  • Support audits, compliance requirements, and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) reporting.
  • Proactively monitor legislative changes and contribute to process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned and required.
What you will bring along
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (PCP).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years payroll experience, preferably with multi-provincial payroll, including Quebec.
  • Strong proficiency in Dayforce HCM with experience in payroll processing, system configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Dayforce time and attendance systems and integrations (e.g., Workday).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables.
  • Knowledge of the complete payroll cycle including year-end.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset.
