Job summary

A growing organization in the mechanical services industry is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing. Location: Guelph, Ontario, Canada

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for a growing organization in the mechanical services industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate bi-weekly payroll processing, payroll compliance, employee record maintenance, and responding to payroll-related inquiries. This is an on-site, full-time role supporting both hourly and salaried employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Manage payroll and absence tracking using payroll software (e.g., PayWorks)
  • Prepare and process payroll adjustments, ROEs, T4s, and statutory remittances
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records
  • Reconcile payroll accounts on a monthly basis
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation
  • Respond to employee questions related to payroll and deductions
  • Support payroll audits and reporting as required
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience with payroll and accounting systems (NetSuite considered an asset)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Experience in the mechanical, construction, or trades-based industry is an asset
  • Ability to work full-time on-site during standard business hours
