Payroll Manager | Full-Time | Hamilton Arena

Overview

Under the general direction of the VP of Human Resources, the Payroll Manager monitors, controls, and audits all payroll transactions at Hamilton Arena and FirstOntario Concert Hall. This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of the organization's payroll functions for exempt, non-exempt, and union employees.

Compliance with all regulatory agencies and adherence to OVG's accounting and Human Resources policies is critical. The Payroll Manager will provide support and maintain a high level of customer service to all employees.

This position offers an annual salary of $85,000-$100,000 CAD.

Benefits for Full-Time roles include: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Pension matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays).

This position will remain open until July 11, 2025.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all company employees, including union and non-union staff.
  2. Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial payroll regulations, including income tax, deductions, and benefits.
  3. Serve as a payroll liaison between Corporate Payroll and Hamilton.
  4. Collaborate with HR and finance departments to resolve payroll-related issues, discrepancies, and queries.
  5. Review payroll registers for assigned locations to ensure accurate time entry data preparation.
  6. Process adjustments to on-cycle payroll for assigned locations and departments.
  7. Assist with uploading files for new hires and employee changes.
  8. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the payroll system by reviewing all entries and understanding their impact.
  9. Maintain confidentiality regarding employees' personal information and payroll data.
  10. Assist in evaluating the ADP Payroll System to identify necessary improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a fast-paced payroll environment.
  • Experience with multiple payroll schedules.
  • Experience with OMERS and pension plans preferred.
  • Experience with collective bargaining units or union payroll preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong leadership skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of ADP Workforce Now or similar systems.
  • Proficient in Windows environment with strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all management levels.
