Job summary

The City of Saskatoon seeks a Permanent Full Time Financial Analyst II (Payroll) to lead payroll accounting and financial reporting. This role supports budgeting, internal controls, and audit activities while ensuring accuracy in payroll processes.

Qualifications include a Commerce degree and CPA designation, 4–6 years in financial management and reporting, SAP and Excel/Power BI skills, and a Saskatchewan driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Degree in Commerce or related discipline and CPA designation.
• 4–6 years progressively responsible experience in financial management analysis and reporting.
• Experience with SAP S/4 Hana Financial Accounting and/or SAP HCM Payroll Processing is an asset.
• Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards.
• Strong Excel and Power BI data analysis skills.
• Ability to lead staff and communicate complex reports.

Responsibilities

• Organizes payroll accounting processes and supports financial reporting.
• Provides audit and control activities for payroll cycles.
• Prepares salaries and payroll cost reconciliations for corporate budgets.
• Recruits, directs and evaluates payroll staff.
• Supports system improvements and internal controls.
• Coordinates historical and forecast payroll expenditure reports.
• Assists external auditors during audits.
