Job summary

Solace is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will own end-to-end payroll processing for Canadian and international payrolls, ensuring compliance and timely remittances across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a payroll and accounting role.
• Basic accounting knowledge and ability to record payroll transactions.
• Intermediate Excel experience (pivot tables, sumifs, etc).
• High attention to accuracy and detail in working processes and reports.
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing including wages, deductions, tax withholdings, and payments to employees and government agencies.
• Ensure all payroll withholdings/remittances are accurately processed and filed in a timely manner.
• Process Canadian and international payrolls while working with local payroll providers in foreign jurisdictions to ensure compliance with local government regulations and company policies.
• Process, record, and reconcile payroll transactions in the accounting system, including WSIB, EHT, and other payroll-related accruals.
• Maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, general ledger entries, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with payroll and financial audits as required.
• Assist with period-end closing procedures, including month-end payroll accruals and performing variance analysis of month-to-month changes.

About The Role

This position is for a Payroll Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this developing position will be part of a team of dynamic professionals, working on a large variety of tasks. What You’ll Do

Required Skills

• Basic accounting knowledge and ability to record payroll transactions.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience (pivot tables, sumifs, etc).
• High attention to accuracy and detail in working processes and reports.
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desired Skills And Certifications

• Payroll related certification (PCP) – completed or in progress - is an asset.
• Experience with International payroll is desired.
• Educational background in accounting is an asset.

Expected Salary Range

Expected salary range for this role is from $65,000-75,000. The final offer within this range will reflect the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
