Job summary

Portfolio Group is recruiting on behalf of a retailer for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist in Downtown Toronto. The role focuses on end-to-end payroll processing for 150+ employees, covering biweekly and weekly cycles, with benefits deductions and vendor remittances.

Strong Ontario compliance and payroll year-end experience are essential. Hybrid work after probation with onsite training, competitive salary ranging from 75,000 to 95,000 CAD plus employer benefits and RRSP matching.

Qualifications

• End-to-end payroll processing for 150+ employees.
• Biweekly and weekly multi-cycle payroll management.
• Benefits processing including deductions and remittances to vendors.
• Strong Ontario payroll compliance knowledge.
• Experience with union and non-union payroll is an asset.
• Year-end processes including T4s, month-end and quarterly reporting.
• Collaboration with department heads and staff to resolve payroll inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll end-to-end for 150+ employees on a biweekly/weekly cycle.
• Manage multiple payroll cycles and ensure accurate deductions and remittances.
• Coordinate benefits deductions and vendor remittances.
• Ensure compliance with Ontario payroll rules and regulations.
• Support year-end activities including T4s and related reporting.
• Respond to payroll inquiries with clear communication to staff and leadership.

Working model: Onsite during training, hybrid after probation

Our client in the retail space is looking for an experienced payroll and benefits professional to support the Director of HR with end to end payroll processing. A great team with excellent company perks looking to secure their next long term employee.

Overview:

• Experience processing A-Z payroll for 150+ hourly and salaried employees
• Managing a multi-cycle environment (biweekly and weekly)
• Experience with benefits processing such as payroll deductions and benefit remittances to the vendor
• Strong compliance knowledge for ON rules and regulations
• Previous experience processing union and non-union employees considered an asset
• Strong year end compliance practices for T4s, month end and quarterly reporting
• Excel experience with VLOOKUP, Pivot tables considered an asset.
• Systems experience with UKG or ADP WFN considered an asset, willing to train
• PCP certification considered an asset
• Seeking a collaborative communicator who is confident in working with different department heads, leadership and all employees regarding their payroll inquiries
