Duties & Responsibilities:

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administering payroll processing, benefits management, and other related HR functions for SIR Corp. This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and an understanding of payroll and benefits legislation across Canada. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and will be able to manage multiple tasks with efficiency and precision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Administration:
    • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
    • Manage payroll adjustments, vacation, sick leave, overtime, and bonus calculations.
    • Ensure all payroll data is accurately entered into the payroll system and verify the accuracy of pay for employees.
    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and discrepancies.
    • Prepare and submit government remittances, including income tax, EI, CPP, and other statutory deductions.
  • Benefits Administration:
    • Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
    • Assist employees with benefit enrollment, changes, claims, and inquiries.
    • Maintain accurate records of employee benefits and ensure timely communication of updates to employees.
    • Work with insurance providers and third-party administrators to resolve benefit issues.
  • Record-Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Generate and analyze payroll and benefits reports for management as needed.
    • Prepare year-end reports (T4, T4A, etc.) and assist with year-end payroll reconciliation.
  • Compliance and Audits:
    • Stay up-to-date with relevant payroll, tax, and benefits legislation to ensure compliance, including payroll regulations in all provinces where SIR Corp. operates.
    • Participate in audits (internal and external) to verify payroll and benefits compliance.
  • Other HR Administration Support:
    • Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.
    • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring proper payroll setup and benefits enrollment.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, HR, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Proficient in payroll software (ADP WFN an asset) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits legislation across Canada, including provincial-specific payroll requirements (e.g., Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Newfoundland).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Certification in payroll administration (e.g., PCP) is preferred.
