Job description

Our client in Cambridge is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join their team in a full-time permanent position! If you enjoy juggling multiple priorities, have a knack for numbers, and are comfortable navigating HR and payroll systems, this could be a great fit. As the Payroll Specialist, you will be compensated $55-$60K, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package!

1. Qualifications:
2. 3-5 years of prior experience processing hourly payroll in a mid-to-large size organization
3. University or College education in Accounting or Payroll is required
4. Payroll Certification (PCP) is an asset
5. Experience with payroll in a manufacturing environment is an asset
6. Familiarity with payroll and HR software systems
7. High level of accuracy in data entry and reporting
8. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for hourly staff, ensuring timely and accurate calculation of wages, including retroactive pay, overtime premiums, and other adjustments in accordance with policy and regulations.
2. Coordinate with managers to confirm payroll approvals, ensuring all entries are reviewed and signed off prior to processing deadlines.
3. Conduct regular internal audits and generate detailed payroll reports to identify trends, detect anomalies, and support compliance and continuous improvement.
4. Manage employee onboarding and offboarding in HR systems, entering new hire data, updating records, and generating Records of Employment (ROEs) for terminations.
5. Track and apply vacation, leave of absence, and other non-standard pay codes accurately within internal systems to ensure consistent payroll outcomes.
6. Maintain current benefit records, verify employee eligibility, and support seamless administration of health, dental, and related benefit programs.
7. Organize and archive payroll-related documentation in line with retention guidelines, ensuring accessibility and regulatory compliance.
8. Protect sensitive employee and payroll data, assist with administrative projects, and uphold all company policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards.
9. Must be able to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
