Payroll Specialist – Accounting Firm (Multi-Client Environment)

Our client, a well-established and growingMontreal-based accounting firm, is looking for aPayroll Specialistto join their team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for full-cycle payroll and related bookkeeping formultiple clientsacross various industries, while alsosupervising and mentoring two junior payroll/bookkeeping staff.

Multi-Client Payroll Management: working directly with clients. Process full-cycle payroll for a portfolio of clients (hourly, salaried, commissions).
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor2 junior payroll/bookkeeping team members, review their work, and support their development.
Government Remittances: Prepare and submit payroll-related remittances (CRA, WSIB, CNESST, etc.).
Bookkeeping Support: Handle payroll-related bookkeeping (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations).
Client Support: Act as the main point of contact for client payroll inquiries and setup.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure payroll practices meet provincial and federal legislation.
Year-End Reporting: Prepare T4s and assist with year-end reconciliations.
Process Ownership: Develop, refine, and document internal payroll processes and best practices.

Experience managing payrollfor multiple clients or companies in a professional services setting.
Strong working knowledge ofCanadian payroll legislation and requirements.
Prior experiencemanaging or mentoring junior staff.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.
Strong communication skills and client-service mindset.
Proficiency in payroll software; experience with Wagepoint is an asset.
Bilingual (English/French) is a plus but not mandatory.
