Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Technical Operations professional in Toronto to join the Payments organization. You will own building and scaling financial reporting, collaborate with engineering, accounting, partnerships to ensure accurate data movement across currencies.

The role requires 2-6 years in technical operations or software engineering, experience with Ruby/Java, SQL, and strong problem-solving. We value proactive automation and clear communication with financial partners and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–6 years in a technical role (e.g., Technical Operations, Software Engineer).
• Experience managing communications/workflows with technical and non-technical teams across stakeholders.
• Ability to write high quality code in Ruby/Java; other languages are learnable.
• Comfort using SQL to navigate data and diagnose issues.
• Ability to build operational processing and tooling from scratch to prevent issues.
• Familiarity with developer tools (e.g., git) and making scoped code changes in Stripe's codebase.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Become a domain expert in an area of Stripe’s payments stack.
• Find automated solutions and implement tool updates to drive operational efficiencies.
• Engage with financial partners to align on product usage and troubleshoot issues.
• Organize and direct complex technical changes between Stripe and partners.
• Automate manual processes through code, agreements, or coordinated changes.
• Design anomaly detection systems to ensure data reliability and correctness.
