Job summary

7mesh Industries is seeking an experienced Pattern Maker to own the fit, sizing and pattern integrity across our apparel collection. You will translate creative and technical concepts into accurate, production-ready patterns, collaborating with Product, Design, Technical Development, Production and factory partners.

As the internal authority on fit and patterning, you will establish consistency across product categories, genders and sizes, manage pattern blocks, grading and vendor communications

Qualifications

• Postsecondary education or formal training in pattern making, apparel design, technical design, or related discipline.
• Five+ years of professional pattern-making experience.
• Experience with technical, performance, cycling or outdoor apparel is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of pattern making, garment fit, grading, sizing and construction.
• Strong understanding of technical fabrics and how stretch, recovery, etc., affect fit and performance.
• Experience leading fittings, creating measurement charts and grade rules, reviewing size sets, etc.
• Proficiency with digital pattern-making and grading software like Gerber AccuMark, CLO.
• Experience communicating changes to overseas factory partners.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.

About the Position

7mesh is looking for an experienced Pattern Maker to own the fit, sizing and pattern integrity of our apparel collection.

Working closely with Product, Design, Technical Development, Production and our factory partners, you will translate creative and technical concepts into accurate, production-ready patterns. You will work across the full product lifecycle—from early concepts and fabric testing through fittings, grading, pre-production and inline production review.

As 7mesh’s internal authority on fit and patterning, you will establish and maintain consistency across product categories, genders, sizes and seasons. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong technical expertise with practical problem-solving, clear communication and excellent organization.

About You

You understand that an exceptional technical garment begins with an exceptional pattern. You can assess how a product fits, functions and moves, identify what is causing an issue and determine precisely what needs to change.

You bring structure to a complex development process. You keep patterns, specifications and decisions organized and understand the importance of communicating changes clearly—especially when working across teams, timelines and manufacturing partners.

You are both exacting and practical. You care about fit, balance and consistency, while also understanding the realities of technical materials, production timelines and commercial manufacturing. You enjoy collaborating, contributing your technical perspective and helping a team turn ambitious product ideas into production-ready garments.

Responsibilities

Fit, patterning and product consistency

• Own and be accountable for the fit, sizing and consistency of all 7mesh products, maintaining the integrity of the intended design, function and performance.
• Create, refine and maintain patterns from early concept through production, including foundational blocks, concept and fabric-test patterns, pre-production patterns and size runs.
• Organize and lead fittings, assessing fit, balance, proportion, mobility and construction, and translating findings into accurate pattern adjustments.
• Make inline pattern adjustments and conduct fit and construction audits to maintain consistency throughout the product line.
• Own the organization, accuracy, version control and archiving of all 7mesh pattern assets.

Measurements, grading and quality control

• Create and maintain measurement charts, points of measure, tolerances and grade rules.
• Conduct garment-measurement quality-control checks throughout development and production, resolving inconsistencies before they affect quality or timelines.
• Work with factory partners to apply complex grading to new styles. Review graded patterns and size sets to ensure fit and design integrity across the full size range.
• Complete grading in-house when required.

Development and production partnership

• Manage pattern deliverables against the seasonal product calendar, with guidance from Product Management, and communicate corrections and approvals directly to factory partners.
• Review factory patterns, samples and production garments to ensure approved fit, measurements and construction standards are maintained.
• Partner with the VP, Product to develop concept and fabric-test patterns and evaluate how different materials and constructions affect fit and performance.
• Review factory markers and fabric-yield calculations, recommending improvements that reduce waste or cost while protecting fit, quality and product performance.
• Provide technical guidance to Product, Design, Production and factory teams, identifying the root cause of pattern, fit and construction issues and helping bring practical solutions into production.

Qualifications & Skills

• Postsecondary education or formal training in pattern making, apparel design, technical design or a related discipline—or equivalent industry experience.
• Five or more years of professional pattern‑making experience, ideally supporting products from concept through production.
• Experience with technical, performance, cycling or outdoor apparel is strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of pattern making, garment fit and balance, grading, sizing and construction.
• Strong understanding of technical fabrics and how stretch, recovery, shrinkage, drape and construction affect garment fit and performance.
• Experience leading fittings, creating measurement charts and grade rules, reviewing size sets and evaluating factory patterns, markers and fabric yield.
• Proficiency with digital pattern‑making and grading software such as Gerber AccuMark, CLO or an equivalent platform.
• Experience communicating technical changes directly to overseas factory partners.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, technical problem‑solving and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
