Job summary

A leading company in the outdoor apparel sector is looking for a Pattern Maker to join their Product Creation Development team. The role involves interpreting design intents and creating high-quality patterns that meet design expectations. Ideal candidates will possess relevant education and 2-6+ years of experience in pattern making, with a strong knowledge of garment construction and pattern making programs.

Qualifications

Must have 2-6+ years of experience as a Pattern Maker.
Experience working with technical outdoor products is ideal.
Able to work from pattern blocks and sketches.

Responsibilities

Create patterns based on design intent and product specifications.
Maintain and update computer pattern libraries.
Establish relationships with Design and Production teams.

Skills

Understanding of garment construction

Knowledge of Gerber Accumark tools

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Your opportunity at Arc’teryx:

As a Pattern Maker, you partner with Design from maker phase, where you will support on concepts, all the way through to pre-production (approved to counter sample), creating patterns which meet design intent as well as Arc’teryx quality, fit and construction expectations.

You will be part of a focused team of Product Developers, Designers, Pattern Makers, Cutters and Sewers that works on creating innovative product. This team builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.

If you were in the Pattern Maker role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for:

Interpreting design intent and creating concepts, prototypes and counter sample patterns, ensuring methods and documentation are consistent with known factory methods and processes
Partnering with Designers and Product Developers to establish standard fit, sizing and product consistency by product type/category and end use
Partnering with Designers and Product Developers to establish and document product construction standards and illustrated technical specifications for all product
Contributing to the block pattern library
Maintaining computer pattern libraries, ensuring changes and communications are clearly shared to Product Developers, Graders, and Marker Makers
Reporting on prototype and sample progress, ensuring development and product creation deadlines are met
Providing estimates of raw material yields to Product Developers during prototype development
Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Designer, Sample Sewers, Product Developers and Factories
Developing and maintaining accurate sample garments and measurement specifications
Partnering with Product Operations to help identify areas that need improvement or clarity, and supporting with changes needed during the Product Creation process
Supporting and contributing to CLO 3D modeling as needed
Participating in organized training programs
Supporting on other projects as assigned
Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

Supporting on special projects, such as Speed to Market and/or varying product categories and types
Providing feedback and input into improving tech pack and development processes.
Supporting the factories to train and help understand Arc’teryx standards and methods.

Are you our next Pattern Maker?

You have a relevant post-secondary education and 2 - 6+ years’ experience as a Pattern Maker
You have knowledge of Gerber Accumark tools or other pattern making program
You have the ability to work from pattern blocks or from sketches
You have excellent knowledge of garment constructions and some knowledge of grading
You ideally have experience patterning technical outdoor products
You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and have knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
You demonstrate initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD $69,000 - CAD $100,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
