Job summary

lululemon is seeking an experienced Patternmaker to lead pattern development from concept through production for performance apparel. You will refine fits, balance garment construction, and ensure quality across live fittings and factory collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Patternmaking degree and 5–8 years of industry experience in pattern making, with development through production exposure preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fit, balance, garment construction, and fabric reaction.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, and Gerber Pattern Making.
  • Experience with 3D software (CLO, Browzwear) is an asset.
  • Willingness to collaborate cross-functionally and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complete patterns and cutters to achieve design aesthetic, fit, and construction.
  • Identify and correct fit issues and communicate findings to the technical team.
  • Collaborate with factories for accurate pattern development and production readiness.
  • Assist in live fittings and muslin work to maintain consistent fit and brand standards.
  • Participate in fittings and support Technical Developers in pattern validation.

About This Team

The Product Development team manages multiple product track development projects from initial concepting, through design, development, and up to the start of production. As part of this team, we are comprised of Pattern Engineers, Technical Developers, and Product Managers. We assist in the creation and commercialization of premium performance products, ensuring they perform for the intended end‑use through garment fit and construction, and meet required quality standards through lab and wear‑testing in accordance with lululemon business goals.

A Day in the Life
  • Organize and prioritize daily workload of assigned product
  • Develop complete patterns & cutters (legend) to achieve design aesthetic, fit, and construction
  • Identify, adjust, and correct fit issues that require pattern corrections
  • Effectively communicate and advise technical team and cross‑functional partners on pattern construction
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to monitor and maintain fit & construction to ensure brand consistency
  • Collaborate with factories as needed for accurate use of pattern development
  • Ability to cut and sew muslins for both live fitting and/or fitting on the form
  • Ability to fit on a live model
  • Participate in fittings as needed to support Technical Developers in maintaining consistent fit
  • Strong analytical thinking, written & verbal communication
Qualifications
  • Patternmaking degree
  • 5–8 years minimum industry experience in pattern making; performance or similar categories preferred (development through production experience preferred)
  • Understanding of fit, balance, garment construction, and fabric reaction
  • Strong technical knowledge of performance product and fit (materials/fabric, construction, and body movement)
  • Strong team player/collaborator, able to work cross‑functionally
  • Knowledge of product creation calendar timelines and ability to work against deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, Gerber Pattern Making
  • 3D software experience (CLO, Browzwear) is an asset
  • Experience with plus‑size market is an asset
  • Traveled to and worked with manufacturers across Asia, Americas, and Europe

Compensation and Benefits Package

Lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay‑for‑performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is $104,600–137,300 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and subject to program eligibility requirements.
