Purpose of the Role

The Patient Service Centre Assistant will be the first point of contact for customers and will ensure a professional, positive, and safe experience while visiting LifeLabs. This role is primarily responsible for greeting customers, collecting and entering customer information accurately and efficiently, receiving, sorting, and verifying specimens against requisitions, and preparing specimens for pickup.

Reports to: Supervisor, Client Services

Position Details:

  • Status: Temporary Part-Time
  • Schedule: Variable Shift
  • Number of positions: 1
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract End Date: 1 Year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring customers feel safe and comfortable.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and effectively.
  • Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enter customer and specimen data accurately into systems.
  • Review requisitions, ensure test preparation compliance, and provide instructions.
  • Process incoming specimens and troubleshoot issues.
  • Prepare specimens for pickup following packaging requirements.
  • Promote SMS services and support confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional and positive representation of LifeLabs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and stock supplies as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years customer service experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and typing at least 60 wpm.
  • Accountability and initiative.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to relate positively to customers.
  • Ability to wear PPE for extended periods.
