Job summary

The Patient Safety Consultant at IWK Health leads patient safety initiatives and risk mitigation across the health centre, guiding teams in best practices and family-centered care. You will mentor staff, coordinate quality reviews and liaise with leadership to address safety issues and improve outcomes.

Ideal candidates are experienced nurses with a master’s degree, licensure eligibility, and strong skills in leadership, project management and education.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Program.
  • Master’s Degree in a health discipline required; enrollment considered.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by NS Nursing & Midwifery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, implementation and evaluation of patient safety and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Model and promote best practices for patient safety and disclosure of adverse events.
  • Lead teams to ensure safe, patient/family centered care and compliance with standards.
  • Provide guidance for quality review processes and peer review actions.
  • Support national Safer Healthcare Now initiatives and local safety projects.
  • Develop action plans addressing identified risk; lead education and training sessions.
