Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a Lab Patient Technician in a temporary part-time capacity to support specimen collection across Richmond Hill and surrounding areas. You will greet patients, collect specimens, and ensure protocols are followed to deliver accurate results.

The role requires phlebotomy experience, ECG skills, and strong communication with an emphasis on privacy and patient care. Flexible scheduling and travel between sites are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service and ability to relate to patients in stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and inform patients about the specimen collection process and ensure proper test protocol is followed.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Conduct special test collections (e.g., drug screens, paternity tests, clinical trials) and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships; respond to inquiries and follow up on requests.
• Enter patient demographics and requisition information accurately for processing results.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
